NRT carnival celebrations!

Every year the Santa Cruz de Tenerife carnival brings music, dance, colour and joy to the island and reminds us that not everything is about work! The NRT and IACTEC team celebrated the carnival with a costume day at work where everyone showed their funniest and friendliest sides!

Every year in February and March the carnival is celebrated by hundreds of thousands of people in the Canary Islands. The murgas (musical theatre), rondallas (stringed instrument musicians) and comparsas (singers, musicians and dancers) spend all year preparing their performances, which delight the attendees of the carnival. Local citizens dress up and celebrate in the streets; attending different events and performances. It is a celebration open to all and for all ages.

The person with the most spectacular costume is awarded the Carnival Queen title and to celebrate the queen's election gala, the satirical songs of the murgas and the harmonious and happy dances of the comparsas are performed. The NRT team enjoyed the days of celebration that revolutionised the entire island and attracted thousands of tourists, however, they were not successful at winning the carnival queen title. They are already working on their costumes for next year!
